1. How many miles of trails are there?
It is all according to how far you want to reach out. We join the Buffalo National River boundary and our trail head starts right at our ranch. So there is no need to trailer, the only drawback is you have to ride a portion of the trail every time you go out in order to connect to other trails and loops. The Buffalo National River Park is 150 miles long although not but a few miles wide at the widest point as it meanders through the mountains. There are trails all up and down the river, but the majorities are located on the upper end and that is where we are located. In other words there are several days riding here if you and your mount are up to it !!!!

2. What are the trails like?
It is recommended that your horse be shod. Although we have had some who have navigated the trails without shoes and their horses have done all right. We are located on top of the mountain which makes our trails from the ranch more challenging for both horse and rider. It is a long pull from the river up to the ranch and it takes a 1hr to 1 ˝ to get to the river. With that in mind, our loops take 5 + hrs. I want to stress that this part of Arkansas is mountainous and not flat. The trails are rocky, muddy in places when wet, dusty when dry. There are usually obstacles to navigate. Although you will find us boasting about the most scenic trails on the river, they are not the easiest ones to trail ride. I just wanted to prepare you for what to expect when you get here.

3. Can the river always be crossed?
No! When the river is flooding it is too dangerous to cross on horseback. The river seldom is at that stage but it has happened. If the river is impossible to cross it usually goes down in a hurry. (usually 1 or 2 days) This has not been a real problem.

4. Can I bring my dog?

Yes---I enjoy dogs as well. But not everyone shares our views so we do ask that you heed these suggestions.
a. No dogs in any of the buildings !!!
b. Keep dogs on leash when other dogs and or guests are around that you do not know.
c. You are responsible for any vet or doctor bill that is a result of your dog.
d. Buffalo National River will ticket anyone caught with a dog on the trail. (unless you are blind)
e. Absolutely no pet in the Cabin. (Emphasizing suggestion a.)
f. No one likes to step in dog POOP. So if your dogs Do-DO’s anywhere humans go please clean up the mess.

5. Can we have a fire at our campsite?
Yes----As long as the county does not have a burn ban on you are welcome to have a fire. Please keep in mind the wind and your neighbor when having fires. There are fire rings available if you do not have one at your campsite. You can bring your own firewood or it is available at a nominal fee. You are also welcome to scour the woods nearby for any dead wood.

6. Are meals available on site?
We do not have a restaurant on site, although there are several good eating facilities 8 miles away.

7. Do we allow alcohol?
Yes ! We do ask that you keep it in moderation. I might also mention that glass bottles are not allowed next to the river and I hear there is a pretty hefty fine if caught, so it is best to bring cans. Also this is a dry county, so unless you want to drive a ways it is best you bring it with you.

8. When is check in and checkout time?
As guest come from near and far it is hard to determine just when you will get here. We are usually around the ranch up till 5-6 o’clock and if you come after that and we are not around pick a campsite and stall and we will check you in the next morning. Please make sure you have your COGGINS papers before unloading. We do ask you to check out by 11 o’clock unless other arrangements have been made.

9. What is your reservation and cancellation policy?
We reserve you a campsite, bunk or cabin for the days you want when you call in or email us. We hold that  Reservation for 10 days allowing enough time for you to mail us a deposit. We prefer check with the dates of your stay written on the check. We do realize things do come up in which you cannot come. So any cancellation made 21 days pryer to your visit will be refunded less 10%. The full amount of stay is due upon arrival.

10. What if it rains while we are there are we committed to the full time reserved?
We built an arena just for that purpose; also we are fortunate that we live close to Branson and Eureka Springs and Silver Dollar City plus many other attractions to visit on those rainy days. Why not bring your rain gear and go riding. Of course you can leave at any time but there are no refunds. SORRY

11. Can I picket my horse instead of using stall?
No. Because of our location along hwy 74 we have decided for the safety of the horses as well as the traffic that the horses are kept in a stall. For the comfort of the horse we only allow one horse per stall.
